Play Day, Cookout, Breakfast and Trail
Ride Friday and Saturday July 10 & 11, 2009
Our first cook out/camping/breakfast event this past weekend was a success. We
had a nice group for both the Friday evening cook out and Saturday morning breakfast. And...great food! I want to thank a few people who worked very hard to help make this a great event. Thank you to Joanne Devall for organizing the Friday evening cook out and also the T-shirt campaign. If you
haven't ordered a shirt contact Joanne but hurry!!!! Joanne is our GOGO secretary and is maintaining the membership
and email distribution lists. If you know of anyone that would like to be added to the list, please send their name
and email address to Joanne. Those interested can also visit our website and leave a message in the guest
book or fill out the "contact us" form to receive information about the group.
May 23, 2009 play date – 12 members attended with
their equine partners– 22 hours of play occurred before we were rained out. June 14,
2009 play date – 9 members attended with their equine partners for 36 hours of play. Three members came not able to
bring the equine partners but to enjoy the fun. We had two guest, Joy from Rock Hill and Casey from Fort
Mill. The members enjoyed positioning their horse on a tarp and lifting each leg, using the yo-yo game
jumping a barrel and backing up to the barrel, a figure-8 obstacle, and maneuvering between the wall of
barrels and the rail. The group split into 2 groups and played the water relay game and the find the carrot on the barrel (that would the
horses finding the carrot not the human) At Liberty was very enjoyable, with Linda, Marie, Teresa, Janet, and Stephanie participating.
A “shout out” for Teresa and Domino, after Domino and Harley had a little of their own liberty fun.
Domino joined his “herd” and did a beautiful circling game with Teresa. During the break, we held a GOGO meeting, the following are the minutes. We discussed choosing the GOGO’s
colors, it was voted that tan and navy blue would be our official colors. Barb shared that Ashley had drawn a logo that we could use, the above is a copy.
The group liked the GOGO’s having a logo. Joanne had gotten prices for t-shirts, with a minimum of 36 the price is $6.00 a shirt
plus tax. We can use the logo on the front, on the back we can have Game on Gang, We Got the Beat, and a picture on North
and South Carolina. Many placed their order already. Please e-mail or call to get yours
order. Bert and
Marie will fill in during Linda’s absence, when she is at the Parelli Center. Joanne will assist
with sending the reminder e-mails and anything else that is needed. We encourage anyone going to the Share Parelli website, to go through the GOGO website.
When we use the GOGO’s website we earn points for our group. Talk turned to funding the website, so far Janet had been taking care of that cost on
her own. Karen got a can, and we will ask for donations at each meeting, to help with funding of the website
plus anything else that might come up. Linda wanted to know if anyone would be interested in doing a GOGO spotlight at the Parelli Florida
Celebration.

Our
next meeting is a play day at Whitt's End Farm, Sunday, Feb. 15th, 2-6 PM.
The Game On Gang (GOG)
or as suggested Game On Gang Organization (GOGO's) also agreed to reserve time to film auditions at the end of each play day.
Food will be served at special occasion events. Is the next meeting one since it is Valentine's weekend?
Just asking. Doug's birthday is the 14th...I could bring heart shaped cookies.
Each
member will set goals...we did not determine the "how". Are they private goals or made public to the group?
We will
also keep track of "Parelli Hours" as a group. Is this a Secretariat duty?
The
membership is open at this time. Group size limits may be imposed at a later time. Volunteer hours may be required from each member. Could also be used in lieu of dues. At this time, no
dues or membership fees are set.
Kim Leitch volunteered to teach the group how to make lines from donated Samson rope
from York Electric. We may plan a special rope making session. She can also teach the group how to make halters
with purchased line.
I'm ok with letting the group be a "work in progress" as long as we stay
safe and keep motivated. I think we can add layers at each meeting. We don't want to get too regimented...just
enough to keep the group safe and progressive. Barb and Margo...once you
have your ideas for the play day, please ask for volunteers from the board and membership. The more people who
get involved the more active and fun the group will be for the entire membership.
Everyone...please reply with ideas, suggestions or concerns that you would like addressed either before or at
the next meeting in February.
